Prefab House of the Year 2024
Prefab House of the Year 2024 competition was held for the 14th time in 2024, organized by Woodhouse Estonia. Its primary goal is to recognize the best buildings (wooden houses) produced by Estonian companies and to showcase the possibilities of wooden construction as a whole.
The competition was open to prefabricated wooden houses that were produced in a factory and handed over to the client between 2021 and 2024. The entries had to meet three key criteria:
+ The main structure of the building or façade element must be made of wood;
+ The structure must be prefabricated under factory conditions;
+ An Estonian company (the entrant) must have full control over the engineering solution, production, and construction of the competition entry.
Over the years, more than 260 different projects from various countries, including Japan and South Korea, have participated in the competition.
Last year, the top prize and the Best Apartment Building title were awarded to an apartment building in Norway produced by Kodumaja. This year, the jury selected the overall winner, the Best Public Building, and the Special Prize for the Most Energy Efficiency building to be a modular kindergarten in Kiili (Estonia), produced by Timbeco Woodhouse OÜ.
