The new library, which is at the heart of Helsinki’s cultural space, symbolizes lifelong learning, active citizenship and freedom of expression and expression. Visitors are estimated at up to 5,000 people per day and the building has a lifespan of up to 150 years.

As much local building materials as possible have been used in the construction of the library building. The impressive curved wooden awning, which extends above the town square as an awning, is covered with specially treated spruce sawn timber. Extremely high quality wood comes from northern Finland and is radially sawn. The appearance of the wood facade should change over the years, bringing out a deeper and richer shade of wood.
