CLT private house in Finland
The design of this house was inspired by the client’s wish to create a home with an atrium courtyard that offers beautiful views of the lake while also providing privacy from neighboring houses. The living spaces are extended by terrace areas that are designed for use both on warm summer days and during cooler or rainy weather.
The client requested that the living spaces be clearly divided into distinct zones – with separate areas for children’s rooms, bedrooms, and living and working spaces. A special feature was the requirement for a lake view from the sauna window. Additionally, the house is designed to include a study, which serves as the homeowner’s workspace and reception area. This also required special placement considerations, positioning the study near the main entrance of the house.
The house is constructed using 200 mm CLT walls, which have a vertical façade cladding. Inside, the natural beauty of the wood is showcased in its full, unadorned splendor. In addition, combined with the main structure, there are glass walls facing the inner courtyard, where framed windows have not been used. This allows for maximum glazing and a minimalist design solution.
