Go to Kihnu! Friends of Wooden Houses summer conference 2022

The end of August is a traditional meeting time for companies in the wooden house sector. They come together to share thoughts on the developments of the sector at the summer conference of the Friends of Wooden Houses, which was held on Kihnu Island this year.

Estonian Woodhouse Association and Wooden Houses Cluster have been organising the joint event of the wooden house sector since 2012. Participants can share their knowledge and experiences while having a good time and being active. The summer conference is aimed at members of Woodhouse Estonia, sponsors and cooperation partners of the sector, and wooden house enthusiasts.

The programme of the summer conference covered a wide range of topics focused on materials, equipment, and engineering solutions used in house production. In addition to specific reviews of products and companies, Sven Mats, CEO of Matek, also talked about the development of prefab buildings and the experiences in the sector. Hearing the stories of other producers has always been interesting and this time was no exception.

Each summer, there is also a topical issue or an interesting guest speaker added to the programme. This year, SEB analyst Mihkel Nestor talked about the developments of the world economy and discussed the prospects of the wooden house sector in the constantly changing financial situation. The programme was concluded by Veiko Germann, Police Director of the Western Department of the Estonian Internal Security Service, who talked about the role of the Internal Security Service in protecting the country and ensuring legal order.

This year, more than 80 people took part in the summer conference, including for the first time Finnlog OÜ board member and sales manager Kuldar Arro. “I very much enjoyed listening to the various presentations and thinking about how to further develop the wooden house sector. Learning from colleagues and exchanging experiences is a vital and driving force for cooperation,” Arro valued participating in the event. “It was particularly exciting to listen to Mihkel Nestor give an economic overview and Sven Mats talk about his experience in developing Matek,” added Arro and praised the team of Woodhouse Estonia. “Many thanks to the organisers for a great event! I hope to participate next year as well!”
