The Estonian Woodhouse Association log building standard helps to ensure the high quality of products manufactured by member companies of Woodhouse Estonia and provides clients additional confidence when selecting a professional log house manufacturer.
On 6 February 2026, the 3rd revision of the standard was approved. This revision clarified and expanded the terminology, made the moisture and strength requirements more explicit, and introduced additional structural detail requirements, including provisions for log splicing, dowel placement, and the consideration of settlement. The document was also linguistically and structurally refined, improving clarity and usability without altering the fundamental requirements.
The development of the standards was initiated in 2011 with the aim of creating a unified basis for both clients and manufacturers in the production of log houses. Standards of the Estonian Woodhouse Association for log houses have been prepared in cooperation between the Estonian Woodhouse Association, the enterprises belonging to the Estonian Woodhouse Association, Estonian University of Life Sciences and the Tallinn University of Technology. The standards are recommended minimum requirements for heated log houses produced in Estonia and apply to both handcrafted and machined log houses and are valid at the moment of handover of the building.
